Chapter 20: Attract what you want

You attract and manifest whatever corresponds to your inner state.

To recap the steps to success we have taken so far, we have covered 19 fundamental steps from discovering your dreams, passions, desires, purpose, and goals. Converted them into plans, understood the power of time, knowledge, creativity, and ideas. Explored the area of mind with our thoughts, faith, beliefs and attitude. Learnt about the power of gratitude and giving. Pondered on the abundance and prosperity we have in our lives. In this chapter, we will explore how to attract the things we want in life.

The word ‘attraction’ has been popularised in pop culture with the phrase ‘the law of attraction’, made famous by the hit documentary The Secret. The law of attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life. As we have covered earlier in the previous chapter on beliefs, we understand a belief is a collection of dominant thoughts thought to be true to oneself. As the law of attraction has no scientific basis, it is up to the individual themselves to believe if this is true for them.

How to attract

How attraction really works is quite easy to understand without going through all the jargon out there. First, all you do is place your thoughts on something you want. Your thoughts create images in your mind, and through repetition of the same thought, the image becomes clearer and clearer. You start daydreaming and desiring the thing you want. Soon enough, you put your want into a goal and create a plan of attainment.

You break down the steps it takes and start directing your energy and focus on the actions you can take. It’s a simple formula. You first think of the thing you want, plan the steps to its attainment, and take the actions until you get it. The keyword is ‘until’. The final piece to the puzzle that is missing in the secret is and always will be action. Taking action, until.

The reason attraction works to bring about your desire into your life is the power of focus. Focusing single-minded on one thing you desire creates clear images in your mind that translate into clear actions to attain the very thing you desire to bring into reality. If you think you want to lose weight, be clear about the goal image you are after. You continue to think about that image of the body you desire consistently until your thoughts, actions, habits, and identity match that inner image to form that outer reality of the body you desire.

You start to attract the right actions, the right decisions by saying no to unhealthy foods and yes to healthy ones. You start paying attention and acquiring the right books, videos, people, products, conversations. Anything you ponder about long enough, you will start to notice in your life only because your mind has been spending energy driving your thoughts deep into your subconscious mind. It’s virtually impossible to achieve anything worthwhile without first having thought about the thing that you thought about because thoughts always precede meaningful actions, and action is the vehicle that drives attraction to its destination. A simple human process we do without knowing we do it.

The images fixed in your subconscious mind control your vibration and your vibration controls what you attract.
